Iowa State women’s golf finishes tied for seventh at Dick McGuire Invitational

The last day of the Dick McGuire Invitational concluded today, and the Iowa State women’s team jumped seven spots with a total score of 879.

The Cyclones climbed up to the top-10 and tied at seventh place with New Mexico and Iowa.

Oklahoma State won the competition with a total score of 863, scoring a combined 288 in the third round. Northwestern finished in second place with a total score of 865, Stanford and Colorado were tied in third place with a total score of 869.

Senior Cel Barquin shot a birdie on the first hole and another birdie on the 16th hole. Barquin ended round three with a total score of 72. Barquin tied in 10th place with Kristy Hodges (Colorado) and Christine Danielsson (UC Davis).

With a total score of 215 from all three rounds, Senior Nattapan Siritrai shot four bogeys, one double bogey in the second hole, and one birdie on hole seven. Siritrai finished with a combined score of 77 and came in 68th place.

Junior Chayanit Wangmahporn shot four bogeys total, including one on the first hole and two birdies on holes 11 and 12. Wangmahporn combined for a total score of 74 and tied for 44th place.

Sophomore Amelia Grohn had a solid start through the third round by hitting a birdie on the first hole, Grohn had more momentum throughout the round by hitting four other birdies along with two bogeys. Grohn finished with a combined score of 69, and is tied for 25th place.

Freshman Alana Campbell began her last round shooting a birdie on the first hole. Campbell later went on to shoot four more birdies and two bogeys. Campbell tied for 25th place.

Freshman T’zu-Yu Chou shot one birdie on hole 12 and a total of eight bogeys and two double bogeys for a total score of 83. Chou finished in 91st place.

The Cyclones will travel to Madison, Wisconsin to compete in the East and West Match Play from Sept. 17-19.
