Iowa State women’s golf finished day two in 13th place

Iowa State women’s golf team jumped five spots in Dick McGuire Tournament.

The first day of the Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, concluded today, and the Iowa State women’s team is 13th place with a total score of 589.

The Cyclones (296-293) are right behind Texas (295-292) with a total score of 587, The Cyclones are hairs away from taking that 12th spot.

Oklahoma State is leading the competition with the score of 575 (291-284), Arizona is in second place with a total score of 576, and Colorado is in third place with a total score of 577.

Senior Celia Barquin started out great by shooting an eagle on the first hole, Barquin later shot four bogeys to end the first round. In the second round Barquin shot two birdies on holes 13 and 15 and shot one bogey on hole 12.

Senior Nattapan Siritrai shot one birdie in the 14th hole and shot two bogeys and only one double bogey in the first round. In the second round Siritrai shot four bogeys and one birdie in the 11th hole.

Junior Chayanit Wangmahaporn shot three bogey’s, one double bogey, and one birdie to put her at 4 above par. In the second round Wangmahaporn shot shot three bogey’s, one double bogey in the 16th hole and one birdie in the 18th hole to finish out her day.

Sophomore Amelia Grohn is five over par after shooting two birdies in the last couple holes, six bogeys, and one double bogey. In the second round Grohn shot three birdies in holes one, four, and five she later shot three bogeys to finish out round two.

Freshman Alana Campbell shot four birdies, four bogeys, and one double bogey in the first round. In the second round Campbell started off with a great start shooting a birdie in the first hole, Campbell later shot 4 bogeys and one more birdie in hole 16.

Freshman T’zu-Yu Chou shot one birdie in hole four, five bogeys and one triple bogey in hole 15. In the second round Chou got some momentum by shooting two birdies in holes one and three, Chou later went on to shoot five bogeys.

The Cyclones will conclude their three-day competition in Albuquerque tomorrow.
