Iowa State police officers and Ames firefighters responded to reports of a dumpster fire near Schilletter University Village apartments at 4:49 p.m. Wednesday.

No injuries were reported, however flames were visible from outside the long, roll-off dumpster, which sat outside the complex’s laundromat, according to ISU Police Sergeant Jason Rieder. Ames Fire extinguished the blaze and no suspicious activity is suspected.

The fire did not damage any property and officials are unsure of the cause. Sgt. Rieder did not expect any further investigation.
