The Golden State Warriors have signed previous Iowa State basketball player Georges Niang to a one-year partially guaranteed deal, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Niang will be added to the training camp roster, but with 15 players on full guaranteed contracts, Wojnarowski believes he will start in the G League affiliate for the Warriors, the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Niang was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 50th overall pick in the 2016 draft. He played 26 NBA games and spent the rest of his time in the G League with Fort Wayne, the Indiana Pacers G League team, playing in only six games.

The 24-year-old power forward played at Iowa State from 2012-2016. He was awarded the Karl Malone Award for best power forward in the nation.

He also earned the following awards during his senior year: Associated Press All-America Second Team, NABC All-America Second Team, USBWA All-America Second Team, Sporting News All-America Third Team, ESPN.com All-America Second Team, Senior CLASS Award All-America Second Team, and Lute Olson All-America Team.

The Golden State Warriors starts its season on Tuesday, October 19.
