Iowa State softball coach leaving for Minnesota
July 24, 2017
The University of Minnesota announced Jamie Trachsel, a native of Minnesota, as its next softball coach, according to a press release.
Trachsel was Iowa State’s head coach for one season, ending with a 23-35 record in 2017.
The Cyclones showed some fire under Trachsel, winning six of the last seven regular season games.
Iowa State finished with its highest conference finish since 1994, including its first series win over Texas.
The Cyclones also return a large portion of the team, graduating only four seniors.
Iowa State saw breakouts from underclassmen Sami Williams, Emma Hylen, Logan Schaben and others.
The Cyclones will begin the search for Trachsel’s replacement.
