Country singer Jana Kramer performed for a sold out crowd Friday night at Bandshell Park for the fourth-annual Firefly Country Nights. The next Firefly Country Nights concert will be on Sept. 8 and will feature country singer Canaan Smith. Those tickets are available at amesdowntown.org.

Man arrested blocks from police department

At approximately 9:30 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the HyVee Drugstore located on Main Street. “This is one of the very, very infrequent cases we catch somebody red-handed,” Commander Geoff Huff of Ames Police said.
