Iowa State had a busy weekend on the recruiting trail, but at the end of the weekend, Iowa State still had as many commits as it did entering the weekend.

Linebacker pledges

Iowa State got a new verbal commit over the weekend. Outside linebacker Gerry Vaughn from Tucker, Georgia, announced his commitment to Iowa State on Twitter.

Vaughn is a three-star prospect according to 247Sports and reportedly held offers from Maryland, Central Michigan and Colorado State, among others.

Vaughn is currently ranked as the No. 102 outside linebacker in the class of 2018 according to 247Sports.

Bolar decommits

Mississippi wide receiver C.J. Bolar announced via Twitter his decommitment from Iowa State.

Bolar committed to Iowa State about a month ago.

Bolar is a three-star wide receiver who currently holds reported offers from Louisville, Memphis and Mississippi State, among others. He visited Mississippi State over the weekend.

Bolar’s decommitment leaves the Cyclones with just one receiver for the 2018 class.

With both Bolar’s decommitment and Vaughn’s commitment, Iowa State’s 2018 class is currently ranked No. 40.
