Individual reports being sexually assaulted on campus
June 28, 2017
An individual reported being sexually assaulted, the Iowa State Department of Public Safety said in a university-wide email Wednesday.
The person, who was not affiliated with Iowa State, was reportedly sexual assaulted by an acquaintance at 11:30 a.m. June 21 near Lake Laverne, located on campus.
ISU Police are asking that anyone near Lake Laverne at that time last Wednesday with information contact the department at the non-emergency line: 515-294-4428.
Once someone reports being a victim of a crime, ISU police provides a victim rights sheet to the individual which lists options for the next steps. They decide if they want to share their information, or undergo medical testing.
Iowa State is required to send a timely warning with information about crimes committed on or near campus in accordance with the Clery Act.
