May 5, 2017
The second year for commencement ceremonies in Jack Trice Stadium will be another record-breaker for the university. Numbers released for the graduate candidates are the largest yet.
An estimated 5,093 candidates will cross the stage, according to the Iowa State news service. The numbers break down to about 4,322 bachelors candidates, 497 masters candidates and 133 doctoral candidates, with 141 veterinary medicine graduates.
The commencement speaker will be Dennis Muilenburg, CEO of The Boeing Company. Muilenburg received a bachelor of science in aerospace engineering from Iowa State in 1986. Muilenburg will receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree for “outstanding contributions to the advancement of science and technology, particularly in the field of aerospace engineering,” according to the Iowa State news service.
Livestream video will be shown at Stephens Auditorium and online at http://www.graduation.iastate.edu/video.
