Police investigate report of smell of natural gas
April 3, 2017
The Iowa State Police Department is asking community members to avoid the Agronomy, Bessey construction area that is omitting an odor similar to the smell of natural gas.
Posting on both Facebook and Twitter, the police said they were currently investigating the scene.
Commenters on the ISU PD Facebook post said that the smell was also near buildings in that area near Kildee and Curtiss halls.
Natural gas, according to Quake Energy, gives off a garlic-like smell, also described as something like a rotten egg or sulfur. This smell is added to the natural gas by utility companies to warn customers of a potential leak.
