Pop mega-band DNCE will perform at Hilton Coliseum on Wednesday, April 5.

DNCE was formed in the summer of 2015, consisting of singer/guitarist Joe Jonas (of Jonas Brothers fame), drummer Jack Lawless, guitarist JinJoo Lee and bassist Cole Whittle.

They released their debut single “Cake by the Ocean” in September of 2015. It eventually peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Top 100 and became one of the most popular and most listened to songs of 2015-16.

The following year, the band released their second single, “Toothbrush” which was also popular, peaking at No. 44 on the Billboard Top 100.

At the end of 2016, DNCE released their first, self-titled album, which included “Cake by the Ocean”, “Toothbrush” and “Body Moves”.

This show will be a part of their second tour, which takes them all across the United States. It will mark SUB’s first show in Hilton since Kevin Hart in 2015.

“We knew they had a couple big songs,” said SUB National Events Director Hayly Smith. “And they had just released a new album.”

Although the band is relatively new, having released their first music in 2015, their popularity has spiked due to famed frontman, Joe Jonas, something SUB thought would help market the show.

“It takes a lot to market the show…We thought most people would recognize Joe Jonas,” Smith said.

SUB first reached out to DNCE back in January.

“We usually discuss [which artists to contact] as a SUB executive board,” Smith said. DNCE accepted the offer and added the show to their tour.

The initial announcement of the show was met with a warm response from students.

“We’ve gotten a lot of initial feedback from social media, I think people have been getting excited for it,” Smith said.

DNCE’s opener, Chord Overstreet, was actually recommended by the band and SUB thought he would be recognizable to the college-age crowd.

“[We] thought he was good because of his connection to Glee,” Smith said.

Chord Overstreet is a musician who first gained critical acclaim on the Fox musical TV show Glee before recently delving into the music business.

He released his first single, “Homeland,” last year, which now has over one-million listens on Spotify. He recently released his second single, “Hold On,” which quickly gained over two-million listens.

Tickets for the show are available to students for $20 and $25 and available for the public for $30 and $35.
