KANSAS CITY, Missouri — For a team that seems to make every game a close affair, the Cyclones made things look easy Friday night.

Iowa State (22-10, 12-6 Big 12) dominated TCU (19-15, 6-12) from start to finish and handily grabbed a 84-63 victory at the Sprint Center to move into the Big 12 Championship for the third time in four years.

Iowa State forward Deonte Burton led the way for the Cyclones early on. He scored the first four points for his squad and had nine points in the first five minutes.

Burton was just one of many Cyclones who found their stride in the first half. The entire offense shot 17-for-29 (58.6%) from the field.

Iowa State jumped to a 15-10 thanks to a quick 10-0 run early in the first half. The Cyclones later pushed the lead to double digits and went into halftime with a 44-27 advantage.

The Cyclones came out of the locker room even more effective, and so did Burton. Burton scored seven points in the first five minutes to push Iowa State’s lead to 20. They wouldn’t look back.

Iowa State will play the winner of West Virginia or Kansas State, which starts at 8 p.m. Friday, in the Big 12 Championship at 5 p.m. Saturday.
