Iowa State is the No. 5 seed in the Midwest region of the NCAA Tournament and will play No. 12 Nevada on Thursday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The game will start following the Purdue-Vermot game, which starts at 6:27 p.m.  The approximate start time is scheduled for 8:57 p.m on TruTV.

If the Cyclones advance to the Sweet Sixteen, they could have a date with the Jayhawks in Kansas City, who are the No. 1 seed in the Midwest region.

It’s a homecoming for three players, Deonte Burton, Darrell Bowie and Donovan Jackson, who are from the area.

The Cyclones have certainly come a long way to get to this point.

After losing to West Virginia on Jan. 31, Iowa State was 4-4 in the Big 12 and 13-8 overall. There were doubts about an NCAA Tournament berth. But the team turned it around, starting with a win on the road against Kansas — the Cyclones’ first win at Allen Fieldhouse in over a decade.

Iowa State rattled off 10 wins in its next 12 games after that West Virginia loss, leading to its third Big 12 Championship in four years.

The Cyclones are coming off a win against West Virginia, a team that swept the Cyclones during the regular season. They were nothing short of dominant in the the Big 12 Tournament, winning by a combined 36 points.
