No. 5 Cyclone Hockey was taken down 4-1 by No. 4 Central Oklahoma on Sunday during the quarterfinals of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) national tournament in Columbus, Ohio.
The Cyclones found themselves down 2-0 less than halfway through the first period. But they were able to come back within striking distance as Aaron Azevedo grabbed a goal late in the first to make it 2-1.
Central Oklahoma scored another goal in the second to hold a 3-1 lead going into the third. They entered the final frame on a penalty kill.
Cyclone Hockey couldn’t convert on three power plays it saw in the third period, and eventually Central Oklahoma pulled away.
The Bronchoes scored three goals in the last period to take down the Cyclones, 6-1, and end their season.
