Structure fire leaves house a ‘total loss’
March 13, 2017
No injuries were reported after a structure fire left an abandoned single-story residence suspected to be a total loss, according to a City of Ames press release.
The Ames Fire Department responded to the fire at 4100 Dawes Drive at 11:08 p.m. Sunday because of a collapsed roof. The fire commander decided that they would fight the fire from the outside with staffed water streams.
Though neighborhood reports led fighterfighters to believe that there were squatters earlier that day, there seemingly were no people inside at the time of the fire.
The home is valued at $163,000 and the fire is still under investigation.
The Ames Firefighters encourage residents with additional information regarding this incident to contact the Ames Police Department at 515-239-5133.
