Necessities for any travel

No matter where you might be headed, whether it’s a weekend family trip or a week in the Bahamas, these nine travel necessities from traveltips.usatoday.com will surely come in handy.
-
Money – Money is a pretty obvious necessity, as you need it to pay for everything. Money is generally required on type of trip. It may be easier to simply bring a credit card so your money is all in one place, then there is no need to worry about carrying around cash.
-
Any medication or medical equipment you use – Medication could be something that completely slips your mind as you are packing for a trip. Remembering to pack any medication that is needed, or might be needed, is essential to a stress- and worry-free trip.
-
Appropriate footwear – No matter where you are headed, the type of footwear you choose to pack is very important. You should always include a pair of tennis shoes, as you might spontaneously want to go for a jog, walk or hike. You should pack nicer footwear as well if you plan on a night on the town, or anything a bit more classy.
-
Outerwear/ light jacket – It is a smart idea to pack a light (or heavy) coat depending on where you are traveling. Even if you are going to a warm weather destination, keep in mind it cools off quite a bit at night time. Being comfortable is the most important thing.
-
Basic clothing – Packing light is a good idea. If you are traveling by plane, it costs to pack more. If you are traveling by car, you probably want to lighten the load as well, so you can fit everyone’s luggage comfortably in the car. Basic clothing is the best option to keep your load light. Pack a few tees, shorts, jeans and a couple layering pieces. This will allow plenty of room in your suitcase for other essentials.
-
GPS -This generally only applies to road trips, however, it can be a smart idea to bring one if you are traveling by plane. If you are using a rental car when you arrive at the airport, it can be a smart idea to plug in your own GPS and get around easier that way. Having a GPS eliminates stress of not knowing where you are headed.
-
Personal hygiene items – This is a no-brainer but can be easy to forget. Everyone has their own personal hygiene needs, and bringing these items is essential. While it is important to bring them, keep in mind that if you happen to forget them, you can always pick some up at a drug store along the way or when you arrive at your destination.
-
Electronics/chargers – Whether you are traveling with your phone, IPad, laptop, etc., it is important to remember to pack your charger as well. Your battery will die at some point during your trip.
- Passport and Driver’s License – Packing your passport and ID is absolutely vital. You will not be able to travel by air or do much at your destination without them.
