Domination has been a word the Iowa State tennis team (9-2, 0-0 Big 12) has been very familiar with early in spring season.

Iowa State blanked Northern Iowa (5-2, 0-0 MVC) by a final score of 7-0 on Saturday at the Black Hawk Tennis club in Waterloo, Iowa.

The Cyclones started off hot winning two out of the three singles matches. Samantha Budai and Maty Cancini got back on track as they won 6-1 improving their overall record to 6-4 on the season and giving them a much needed confidence boost.

The team of Regina Espindola and Karen Alvarez also got a win to close out doubles as they battled and won 6-4.

The doubles point was all the Cyclones needed as they went on to sweep the Panthers in singles.

Budai and Espindola continued their undefeated steak so far on the season. Espindola won a tough three set match 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 in a match that was full of ups and downs.

Erin Freeman was slated at the number three spot and also had a tough matchup. Freeman ended up prevailing 3-6 6-2 11-9 in a thrilling three set match.

The Cyclones have one more non-conference trip to make before they start the Big 12 regular season. The Cyclones will travel to Souix Falls, South Dakota where they will face the Souix Falls Cougars and the Agustana Vikings on Saturday March 4th.
