Are you staying in Iowa over Spring Break but don’t know what to do to keep you busy?

Here are a few ideas of things you could do around Iowa:

Visit a shopping mall – There are multiple major malls around the state including North Grand Mall in Ames, Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines and Tanger Outlet in Williamsburg. Start saving your money and get your shop on.

Visit downtown Des Moines – Des Moines has a beautiful, vibrant downtown area where you can do anything from eating at Zombie Burger in East Village to walking around the Pappajohn Sculpture Park in the center of Downtown. You can also snap a few pictures of the outstanding capitol building along the way.

Visit a park – If the weather allows, you could go hiking at Ledges Park in Ames, visit the Honey Creek State Park and Resort in Moravia or check out the caves at Maquoketa Caves State Park in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Take a mini road trip – You and your friends or family could pack a small bag and take a mini road trip to one of the bigger cities in Iowa. Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Ankeny and Sioux City are a few options that have plenty for you and your friends or family to take part in.

Visit Pella – Pella, Iowa, displays its Dutch heritage through its large, working windmill, historical buildings and many tasty bakeries. If you enjoy Dutch snacks such as Dutch letters or almond-filled anything, Jaarsma Bakery is the place you want to be. Although Tulip Time will not happen during break, there is so much to see and learn in the town of Pella.
