January 29, 2017
Ta-Nehisi Coates, national correspondent at The Atlantic, will give a lecture on “A Deeper Black: Race in America” on Monday in the Memorial Union.
The lecture will begin at 7 p.m. in the Great Hall and will be free to attend.
Coates wrote the magazine’s recent cover story “My President Was Black,” which is a history of the first African-American White House.
He also is the author of “Between the World and Me,” which he wrote in the form of a letter to his teenage son about the challenges he will face growing up in America, according to the Iowa State events website.
