April 4, 2016
Iowa State is currently in the midst of a transformative period, with numerous changes taking place throughout various administrative facets around the university.
The Faculty Senate will hear a presentation from Reginald Stewart, vice president for diversity and inclusion as well as Jim Kurtenbach, vice president and Chief Information Officer of Information Technology Services, during its monthly meeting Tuesday.
Stewart is the first appointee to the new role and will update the Senate about his office’s activities since arriving on campus.
Kurtenbach will update the Senate about various IT activities and initiatives around campus.
The Senate meeting will also include discussions about a new proposed College of Business major, a mandatory course for international students and potential updates to the Faculty Handbook concerning visiting, affiliate and collaborator appointments.
The goal of the update is to eliminate the collaborator appointment type and clarify the definition of visiting and affiliate faculty appointments as well as clarify policies regarding faculty governance, rights and responsibilities.
The meeting will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union.
