Celebrating its 125 birthday, the Power Plant will host an open house on 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday at 616 Beach Rd.

Iowa State incorporated its first Power Plant in 1891, only nine years after Thomas Edison pioneered cogeneration. Since this development, the university has been producing its electricity and heat. 

The event will include refreshments, tours and a presentation at 2 p.m.
