Pride Week arrives on ISU campus
April 10, 2016
Pride Week is kicking off at Iowa State this week with a full schedule of events to educate and raise awareness, as well as to create a sense of pride for the LGBTQA community on campus.
Pride Week, which will take place from Monday to Sunday, is hosted by the Pride Summit — a consortium made up of groups including LGBTQIA+ student organizations and interest groups, the LGBTQA Faculty & Staff Association and LGBT Student Services.
All students, faculty and staff are encouraged and welcome to participate in the events.
The week’s events will include several lectures, discussions and meetings. Safe zone training will be available Thursday, and any member of the university can sign up to attend at www.lgbtss.dso.iastate.edu/programs/safezone/safezonereg.
A Drag Dash, hosted by Gamma Rho Lambda, will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday in front of Beardshear Hall. A portion of the proceeds earned at the event will be donated to The Trevor Project, a non-profit focused on suicide prevention among the LGBT community.
Rainbow ribbons will be sold Monday through Friday at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Condom*grams will be sold from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the Free Speech Zone.
