Potbelly’s first store in Iowa will open in Ames on Tuesday.

The popular sandwich chain will open at its new Campustown location at 2310 Lincoln Way.

Potbelly was founded in Chicago in 1977, and the first store was actually an antique shop, according to the company’s website. The couple running the store began to serve its clientele sandwiches, and the store began to lift off the ground. 

Ames’ location is one of more than 300 Potbelly stores around the United States. The organization also has a location in London.
