The final of three candidates for the dean of the College of Human Sciences position will visit campus Tuesday for interviews, meet with members of the university and host an open forum.

The open forum for Stephan Wilson, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in 0210 Bessey Hall.

Wilson, currently Regents Professor of human development and family science and dean of the College of Human Sciences at Oklahoma State University, is the third candidate to participate in a two-day visit of Iowa State.

Wilson holds a master’s in child and family studies, and a Ph.D. in family relations and human development from the University of Tennessee. He has worked in Oklahoma since 2008 following faculty and administrative appointments at the University of Nevada-Reno, University of Kentucky, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Illinois State University and Montana State University.

He also served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya from 1976 to 1978, and later returned as a senior Fulbright professor in residence at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya.

More information, including Wilson’s CV, is available at the Provost’s website at http://www.provost.iastate.edu.

Cheryl Hanley-Maxwell, associate dean at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education, and Laura Jolly, who currently serves as professor of textiles, merchandising and interiors at the University of Georgia, Athens, were the other two candidates to visit campus.

The finalists were selected based on off-campus interviews conducted in February by the search committee and Senior Vice President and Provost Jonathan Wickert. The search committee is co-chaired by Cathann Kress, vice president of Extension and Outreach, and Wendy Wintersteen, dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
