The Steepwater Band to perform at Bluestem on Friday
March 6, 2016
The Steepwater Band will be performing from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, March 18, at the Bluestem Stage. Tickets are $12 for students and $15 for adults and are available at Eventbrite and at the door.
Steepwater will be covering Rolling Stones’ songs from the album “Get Yer Ya-Yas Out” along with the group’s own original songs for the show at Bluestem.
Drummer Joe Winters explained that the band started covering The Rolling Stones’ album for some of their shows this year after a popular and special performance that took place on Halloween night in 2015.
Winters said that demand went up for the band to bring this type of show to other venues around the country.
“It’s fun for the audience and it’s only the first like 53 minutes and then we get right to playing our own material,” Winters said. “It’s almost like a nice warm-up of sorts.”
Steepwater performed last year at the Bluestem stage and Winters said that the band is pretty excited about coming back to the venue because of the atmosphere and the local audience that comes out to the show.
“I’m excited to play [at Bluestem] again,” Winters said. “It’s like an energy exchange between the artist and the audience, like a real concert should be.”
The band is currently trekking their way through the Midwest. Along with touring across the country they also bring their music to Europe.
Time in the recording studio has kept the band busy as well, with their new album “Shake Your Faith” dropping on April 1.
Winters said that he is excited to see the album be released, since the band has put a lot of hard work into it.
“When we recorded it, at first I liked it, but I didn’t’ know if it was better than our older material,” Winters said. “Now it’s here and it’s coming out and I had a chance to sit down and listen to it on vinyl record and I was really blown away. I’m just really excited for people to hear it.”
The band recently released their first single and music video from the album. Here is the official video for their song “Shake Your Faith” uploaded on the their YouTube channel.
Steepwater shows no signs of slowing down either. Winters said that they plan to keep working hard to bring their music to people everywhere.
“The main goal is for many people as possible to find out about our music and take a liking to it and tell more people,” Winters said. “For us, it’s that simple. We just want to continue to grow our audience and be able to work.”
