Summer is approaching fast, which means it’s time to get your summer body ready. As second semester comes to an end, it’s hard to find time to go to the gym and workout with homework and finals piling up. Here are some workouts anyone can do to get in tip-top shape for summer. All of these exercises can be done from home or in your dorm room. Now you won’t have to worry about finding a time to go to the gym.

1. Cardio

Believe it or not, you don’t need a treadmill or elliptical for these cardio exercises. All you need is a staircase. Dorms and apartments have flights of stairs that you’re able to run up and down on. Go up and down the flights of stairs as many times as you can until you get your heart rate up. Try to do this for 30 minutes. If you feel tired, take a break, then continue. If you don’t have access to a staircase, jumping jacks and jump roping are great substitutions.

2. Abs

Sit-ups aren’t the only exercise that will work your core. Ab bikes are a great way to work your abs. Do 40 reps of ab bikes with a 30 second rest in between. Repeat this four or five times. Another exercise that will make your core stronger and tighter are planks. Starting off, hold a plank for 30 seconds and take a 20 second rest. Then continue to add 10 seconds until you reach a minute.

3. Glutes

Squats, squats, squats! Squats are a great way to work your glutes. You can perform this exercise while studying for a test too. When you’re looking at your study guide or notecards, you can continue to do squats. Besides squats, donkey kicks are another great workout for the glutes. Begin on your knees and forearms and kick your leg straight back. Perform 20 of these and take a 30 second rest, then repeat three or four times.

Along with working out, eating healthy is a main factor in getting that perfect beach body. Studying for finals and doing homework all day results in snacking all day. Here are some easy and quick snacks you can take to the library or make in your dorm room.

1. Fruit salad

Strawberries, blueberries, bananas and raspberries sprinkled with a little dash of sugar are great snacks to have during the day. This is a better option compared to a bag of chips or candy.

2. Almonds

This is another easy and perfect on the go snack to munch on at the library. Go for the lightly salted almonds. Almonds are a great source of protein and fiber.

3. Granola

Granola goes well with low fat Greek yogurt or by itself. Sprinkling this delicious snack over yogurt or a smoothie will add a nice flavorful crunch. Packing a bag of granola is another way to eat it.
