Healthy places to eat in Ames

The amount of places one can go to eat is increasingly growing in the beloved town of Ames. However, with the addition of chick-fil-a there is an increasing amount of delicious but not necessarily healthy food available. There are only a few places spread throughout the town where one can find a delicious but healthier option to their waffle fries and chicken sandwich. Here is a list of some of the great places to eat healthy in Ames:
1. Panera Bread-this is a well-known location with many great healthy options such as soups and salads. The menu is very detailed and can be further inquired about with substitutions available if needed.
2. Tropical Smoothie Café- the options here range from flatbreads to salads to fish tacos where a delicious smoothie can be added for only $3.
3. The Café- healthy meals can be found at this unique restaurant in North Ames. Even though it can be quite a wait at times it is well worth it.
4. Plus39- this restaurant is a gem with authentic Italian food that even offer Panini and pizza delivery. Those might not be the healthiest options but for dining in there are soups, salads, and delicious appetizers to choose from.
5. Stomping grounds- Not only is this a great study and hang out spot but it also offers some great food choices such as their tomato bisque.
6. Noodles and Company- Lastly is another well-known place where most only order noodles even though there are some other great choices on the menu. They offer a variety of soups such as a Thai Curry Soup with only 250 calories or a Mediterranean style salad with chicken.
These are some of the best healthy alternatives Ames has to offer. Even though everyone needs to indulge in some fries and a burger every once in a while, these are some great delicious options when a change in nutrition is needed.
