Iowa State announces 2016 Hall of Fame class

Eight former Cyclones will be inducted into the Iowa State Athletics Hall of Fame, the Iowa State Letterwinners Club announced earlier this week.
The eight inductees into the 2016 class will be officially inducted on September 23 at a ceremony in the new Sukup End Zone Club at Jack Trice Stadium, and will be honored at halftime of the football game against San Jose State on September 24.
Here are the newest members of the Iowa State Athletics Hall of Fame and their achievements:
Dan McCarney — Football
Dan McCarney coached the Iowa State football team for 12 seasons, his last in 2006. He is currently the winningest coach in Iowa State history with 56 wins. He led the Cyclones to their first ever bowl win in 2000, and led Iowa State to a school-record five bowl games.
McCarney was the Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2004, and led Iowa State to a No. 9 ranking in the national polls in 2002, its first in school history.
Jamaal Tinsley — Men’s Basketball
Jamaal Tinsley played at Iowa State from 1999-2001, and is one of the best point guards in Iowa State history. Tinsley led the Cyclones to back-to-back Big 12 Championships in 2000 and 2001, and never lost a game inside Hilton Coliseum, going a perfect 34-0.
Tinsley was the Big 12 men’s basketball player of the year in 2001, and finished second in the Associated Press’ National Player of the Year. He currently has Iowa State records in assists, 244, and steals, 98.
Tinsley was the 27th selection of the 2001 NBA Draft. He played 11 seasons in the NBA, playing for the Indiana Pacers, the Memphis Grizzlies and the Utah Jazz.
Megan Taylor — Women’s Basketball
Megan Taylor played basketball under coach Bill Fennelly from 1997-2001, and was a four-time All-Big 12 selection. Taylor started all 132 games in her career, losing just 28 games as a Cyclone.
Taylor won two Big 12 Tournament titles in 2000 and 2001, and earned a share of the 2000 Big 12 regular-season title. She is currently tied for first in career-3 pointers at Iowa State with 287. Her jersey has since been retired.
Mark Diab — Gymnastics
Mark Diab was a two-time national champion in the still rings and a two-time All-American in 1985 and 1986. He was a two-time Big Eight Champion in the still rings, a three time NCAA finalist in the still rings and was the Iowa State Male Athlete of the Year in 1986.
Arthur Holding — Wrestling
Arthur Holding was Iowa State’s first national champion in 1928 when he won the 135-pound NCAA title. He was a three-time conference champion from 1927-1929, and competed in the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam.
Reg Wicks — Wrestling
Reg Wicks was a national champion in 1960 at 160 pounds, and led the Cyclones to two second-place finishes and a third place finishes at the NCAA Championships. He was inducted into the Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1998, and was inducted into the Iowa High School Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2005.
Erin Woods — Softball
Erin Woods was named First-team All-Big 12 in 1999, and was the first player in school history to hit 10 home runs in a season. She competed in two Olympic Games for Canada, and is the only Iowa State softball player to have her jersey retired.
Raf Wyns — Track & Field
Raf Wyns was a five-time All-American from 1985-1987, and a nine-time Big Eight champion. He won three titles at the Big Eight Indoor Championships, and was a member of seven Big Eight Conference championship teams.
