All over the world women get up in the morning and one of the first things they do is put on their makeup. Whether it’s just a little mascara or everything, including contouring, women feel the need to purchase and wear makeup.

It’s easy to think that they just wear makeup because they think that it makes them appear better, but there are other reasons as to why women choose to take the time to do their makeup. Here is what some students said when asked “Why do you wear makeup?”

“I see makeup as a form of art and everyday I get to paint the canvas that is my face.” -Amra Softic, Junior in Biology and Pre-optometry

“I feel almost naked without it and I feel like it makes my eyes stand out more.” -Jordan Theobald, Freshman in Open Option

“I wear makeup because it is exciting and fun to try a new lip color or a different eyeshadow. I also feel more confident when I have makeup on and almost in control of how I look.” -Iris Melcher, Freshman in Chemical Engineering

“It makes me feel good about myself and it makes me feel more confident around others.” -Natalie Keller, Freshman in Global Resources
