Senior Jan Jeuschede represented the Cyclones in the men’s shot put at the NCAA Championships today in Birmingham, AL.

Jeuschede has competed in the NCAA Championships for three consecutive years in the outdoor season. This weekend was his first time competing at the indoor championship.

Jeuschede finished the competition with a Second-Team All-American Honor, making the native of Germany a three-time All-American athlete.

Jeuschede’s first throw of 59-1 ½ left him in tenth place. His second throw of 61-7 ½ moved him up two places.

Despite a foul on Jeuschede’s third throw, he managed to stay in the top nine, which allowed him three more throws.

The fourth throw by Jeuschede was his best of the competition. He threw a 62-1 ¾ and maintained a ninth place spot.

Another foul on the fifth throw left Jeuschede still in ninth place with one more chance in attempt to win First Team All-American Honors and earn points for Iowa State.

A final throw of 61-5 ½ left Jeuschede in ninth place, just one place from making First Team All-American.

The ISU track and field team will compete at the Tulsa Duals in Tulsa, Okla., on March 19.
