5 Ways to spring up winter essentials
March 15, 2016
You’ve spent the last 4-5 months perfecting your wardrobe to make it through the treacherous Iowa winters, and now that it’s getting warmer you can’t bring yourself to part with your go-to pieces, right? Just because spring is right around the corner, it doesn’t mean you have to pack away your favorite winter styles quite yet! Here are 5 ways for you to reinvent your cold weather wardrobe, keeping you happy and your outfit weather friendly.
1. The Fluffy Scarf
The fluffy scarf is a go-to for almost every college student, because it can be paired with anything and it keeps you warm. Switching up your scarf and pairing it with a cute pair of sandals or a skirt will change the whole look. Try to stay away from darks, reach for your colors instead! You can continue to wear your favorite scarf and look like the cover girl for Spring all in one.
2. Leather Jacket
A leather jacket is probably the most edgy article of clothing in your closet, and you probably aren’t ready to have to pack that up, ever. Try pairing your jacket with a flowy spring dress and some converse. Your outfit will automatically be transformed into the perfect mix of edge and spring, satisfying all your style needs.
3. Booties
Your booties have struggled with you through the snow and cold weather, and there is no way you can part with them already. Booties are a perfect way to dress up a more casual dress or skirt. Pair them with a colorful dress and a matching cardigan and you’re set.
4. Black Jeans
Black is a hard color for people to continue to wear in the spring, especially in jeans. Try pairing them with a colorful printed tank and a strappy pair of sandals. The combination will create the perfect spring outfit for the not so colorful and spring loving people.
5. Flannel
Flannel. It is almost impossible to step onto a college campus in the winter and not see a flannel. It’s the perfect article of clothing to throw on over a tee when you’re cold, and tie around your waist once you hit the heated buildings. Luckily, you can pair your favorite flannel with almost any outfit in the spring as well, just by tying it around your waist. The flannel is a perfect accessory to reinvent for the spring, so don’t even think about packing it up!
