Road closings in Ames area due to weather, water break

Due to several accidents and whiteout conditions, more than 80 miles of Interstate 35 has been shut down to due the recent weather conditions.
According to the Iowa Department of Transportations website, the southbound lane of I-35 is closed between Clear Lake to Ames.
Both north and southbound I-35 is now gated closed from U.S. 18 (Clear Lake) to U.S. 30 (Ames) due to whiteout conditions.

Also effective today, a section of the southern lanes of Airport Road will be closed to traffic. The closure is necessary so that a repair to a water main break in the area can be made.
Lanes can be expected to remain closed through Friday or Saturday.
Drivers will be rerouted east and westbound lanes head-to-head in the North lanes, according to a press release put out by the City of Ames.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down and to use caution when driving through the effective area.
