Winter Weather Advisory for Ames through Sunday
February 13, 2016
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Ames through Sunday night as a winter weather system moves through the area.
Expect 3-5 inches of snow that will begin tonight and become widespread overnight into Sunday.
Winds will be from the southeast at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Visibilities Saturday night will be reduced due to blowing snow to less than one mile at times.
The advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Saturday night until 6 p.m. Sunday night.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving especially in open areas.
