Lack of snow doesn’t stop ISU Nordic ski club

The lack of snow in Iowa hasn’t stopped the ISU Nordic ski club from training, but it has prevented them from training outside. Despite little training outside, the club will travel to Wisconsin to compete in the annual American Birkebeiner.

The American Birkebeiner is one of the largest Nordic ski races in North America and one of the longest. Known as the “Birkie” to the ski community, about 10,000 skiers participate in it each year. Skiers from around the world come to compete in the event that was started in 1973.
