This Week in University Museums
February 8, 2016
Iowa State’s University Museums have a variety of different events in the upcoming week.
As this is the 40th year of the University Museums, the week will kick off with the Curator’s Tour of 40/40+ at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, at the Brunnier Art Museum.
Assistant Curator Adrienne Gennett will lead a guided tour of the exhibition, which includes more than 80 newly added pieces from Iowan artists to honor the University Museums.
At noon Wed., Feb. 10, University Museums’ Interpretation Specialist, Dave Faux, will lead a tour of art on campus during the monthly Art Walk.
Beginning in the Horticulture Hall atrium, the tour will explore the Palmer Building and McKay and LeBaron Halls, admiring the various displays of art on campus and discussing how they were chosen to represent Iowa State.
Artful Yoga will return at 5:30 p.m. Wed., Feb. 10, at the Christian Petersen Museum.
This monthly practice combines the tranquility of yoga with the visual experience of a museum to create a unique and relaxing atmosphere.
*Note: To participate in the session, email [email protected] by 3 p.m. on Feb. 10. This session is sponsored by University Museums and Recreation Services.
University Museums recently launched an online database of more than 40,000 pieces of artwork that are part of the University’s permanent collection.
The Electronic Museum will walk attendees through the process of finding artwork in the database at noon Monday, Feb. 15 in the Christian Petersen Art Museum.
