People today are going to other sources for their television needs. While network television still holds the number one spot for viewership, streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Instant are gaining a lot of viewers with original content of their own. Netflix, for example, has a large amount of TV shows that are getting a lot of attention, nominations and awards. HBO even recently launched a streaming alternative that lets people access the entire HBO catalog without a traditional cable subscription. Here is a few streaming alternatives shows to network television shows that you might enjoy.

Netflix – Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones is one of the newest Netflix shows to make it to the streaming platform. Jessica Jones is based off of the Marvel comic of the same name. The show follows Private Investigator Jessica Jones after her brief stint as a superhero ended in tragedy. Jessica Jones stars in Krysten Ritter in the lead role.

Amazon Instant – Transparent

When the Pfefferman family patriarch makes a dramatic admission, the entire family’s secrets start to spill out, and each of them spin in a different direction as they begin to figure out who they are going to become. Transparent is one of Amazon Instant’s most successful TV shows on the platform. The show has been nominated and won Golden Globe awards. The show stars Jeffrey Tambor and Gaby Hoffmann. 

Hulu – Casual

Casual is a new show on the streaming platform, Hulu. Casual centers around Valerie, who is a newly divorced single women, who lives with her brother and daughter. Casual was recently nominated for a Golden Globes in the Best Television Series in a Musical or Comedy. Some of the cast members include Michaela Watkins, Tommy Dewey and Tara Lynne Barr.
