Tennis Team Drops Season Opener against UTEP

ISU (1-1, 0-0 Big 12) slipped in their first home match of the year, losing 4-3 to the Miners of UTEP (2-0. 0-0 CUSA).

Iowa State’s double pairing of junior Samantha Budai and freshman Liza Buss continued their dominating ways, as the two won their sixth straight doubles match as a pair. UTEP would go on to win the other two doubles matches and proceed to ride that momentum to a victory.

Liza Buss won her singles match, improving to 11-2 in her first season with Iowa State. While Annabella Bonadonna didn’t allow a point in her singles match, going 6-0 in both frames.

The Cyclones next match will be Saturday, Jan. 30, against Omaha at home in Des Moines.
