Ways to change your hair

Casey Laktas

Doing something different with your hair is a great way to add some change in your life, knowing that hair can always grow back. Although when some people think of changing their hair it usually means changing color or cutting it drastically, but there are other ways to approach this. So here are some ideas of how you can switch up your look without using the scissors.

1. Change your part: This seems so simple but it does make quite a difference. You can go for the middle, side or far side and it totally changes your look. A center part can make a round face appear more angular, while a side part can bring more focus to the eyes.

2. Fake layers: This is easier when you have longer hair. To do this, part your hair farther to the side than normal, using your hand. This will add the effect of layers because half of your strands are laying across your head to fall on the other side, making them look shorter.

3. Experiment with clip-ins: You can really change your hair this way without worrying if it will look good or not. They have so many different kinds that can change the length, volume or add highlights or layers. It is the perfect way to add something new without having to commit.

4. Curl hair: If you are one to never curl your hair, this will definitely do the trick, but another thing you can try is to curl it in different directions. For example, for one piece twist your hair forward, and the next backward. There are also many different kinds of curling irons or wands that can make your curls bigger or smaller.

5. DIY bangs: This can be done when you have longer hair and decide to put it in a ponytail or bun. All you have to do is when creating the ponytail or bun is to not fully pull all your hair through but rather leave as much or as little hair in the front down. Obviously if you leave more, the bangs will be longer than if you do not. If you have thicker hair you may need to straighten them down to appear more like bangs. Then you can always add a headband to make it look even more realistic

6. Faux bob: This is another easy option. All you have to do is pull your hair together at the bottom of your neck and then tie with an elastic near the ends, tucking them under. Make sure that you pin it in place, and for this one especially do not forget about the hairspray.
