U.S. Rep. Steve King, the Republican congressman representing Ames, has thrown his support behind Ted Cruz in the 2016 race.

“I believe Ted Cruz is the candidate that’s the answer to my prayers,” King told reporters at a press conference in Des Moines.

The Cruz campaign released a video message from King on Monday morning:
