The next step for the Ames City Council in its settlement agreement with the Breckinridge Group is to institute a Land Use Policy Plan amendment to the land use designation.

Discussion about potential housing for students along South Wilmoth Avenue will continue at a City Council meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.

The Breckenridge property on South Wilmoth and Lincoln Way has been the topic of several prior council meetings. The proposed plan for the property would include an apartment complex with more than 400 beds and at least 15,000 square feet of commercial space.

The next step for the property is the rezoning of the land for usage as high-density residential and commercial. The Planning and Zoning Commission was scheduled to present a rezoning plan to the council at Tuesday’s meeting, but has requested that council open and continue the hearing on the rezoning request until the Nov. 24 meeting.

A public hearing for the rezoning plan will also take place at the Nov. 24 meeting.
