Iowa State sweeps West Virginia twice in regular season

The brooms came out Wednesday as Iowa State swept West Virginia in three sets in Morgantown, West Virginia.
The Cyclones dominated all three sets, winning 25-17, 25-16, 25-15.
This is the second time Iowa State swept West Virginia in the regular season. The Cyclones defeated the Mountaineers on Oct. 21 in Ames in the three sets.
Cyclones Alexis Conaway, Jess Schaben and Samara West dominated the match on Nov. 11 with their hitting percentage.
In the first set, Conaway and West combined for nine kills and a .727 hitting percentage. This success continued into the second set, regarding streaks and the team’s hitting percentage overall.
The second set started off with a 9-2 run, but Iowa State’s overall hitting percentage dropped from .394 in the first set to .273 in the second set. Conaway continued to record team high 12 kills in the match.
The third set had the most successful hitting percentage in the match with .444. The match ended with back-to-back kills from Schaben as well as a Conaway ace against West Virginia.
No. 14 Iowa State will be heading home for the weekend as they play No. 5 Texas on Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum. The Longhorns swept the Cyclones in Austin, Texas on Oct. 3.
