ISU volleyball was swept in three sets by the No. 10 Kansas Jayhawks (20-25, 17-25, 21-25) today in Lawrence, Kan.

The first set between Iowa State and Kansas was even, statistically speaking. The Cyclones had a .217 hitting percentage and 14 kills compared to the Jayhawks’ .218 hitting percentage and 15 kills.

But the stats that doomed Iowa State in the first set were the two service errors and the lone handle error.

Iowa State then struck first in the second set. After that, however, it was all Kansas. The Jayhawks largest lead of the set was eight points, which occurred five separate times, against the Cyclones.

Iowa State made a slight comeback, cutting Kansas’ 20-12 lead to a 20-16. That was the closest the Cyclones could get to the Jayhawks’ lead in the second set as they fell 25-17.

Set three would be the closest Iowa State would get to Kansas, in terms as a final score, as the Cyclones lost 25-21 to the Jayhawks.

The Cyclones will retake the court against TCU Horned Frogs at 12 p.m. on Oct. 17 in Ames.
