Fashion meets flooring

High fashion came to Iowa last night at the Fashion Meets Flooring event held at Royal Flooring in Urbandale. The night consisted of an upscale fashion show, several pop-up shows of various vendors, as well as an after show with live music. Doors opened at 6:30 and the show was underway by 7:30.

The fashion show, themed “Oxblood: A Coat Story”, focused on current fall and winter looks. As the name suggests, the main focus was on the glamourous coats that topped off each look. The show featured countless pieces from high end designers including Burberry, Helmut Lang, Marc Jacobs, Rag and Bone and Vince. The overall look of the show was edgy, but very sophisticated. The hair and makeup resembled that of the Marc Jacobs Fall 2015 collection.

The fashion show itself was all but ordinary. The models strutted down the runway, posed, then proceeded off the end of the runway where a small photoshoot took place for each look, and finally walked the runway back towards the start of the runway.

Several Iowa State students took place in this show, helping with various aspects. Students helped setup for the show and hair and makeup. They also helped behind the scenes and some even modeled. The show was not something you see every day, especially at a flooring store.
