The Sheepdogs will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Maintenance Shop. The doors will open at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $7 with a student ID, and $12 for the public. There is a $2 increase the day of the show. Tickets can be purchased at the Maintenance Shop or online at the Midwestix web page.

The Sheepdogs are a self-proclaimed “boogie rock” group. Natasha Porizkova, junior in public relations and codirector of the Maintenance shop, said the band stands out because of its boogie influences.

“I think boogie is more just like rock you can dance to or get into easily,” Porizkova said.

Ryan Gullen, bass guitarist of The Sheepdogs, agreed that the band is not the same as other rock groups.

“We’re into old rock ‘n’ roll music, and that’s very much different,” Gullen said. “Not a lot of people are putting focus into musicianship and really looking into those things.”

The Sheepdogs has just released its fifth LP album, “Future Nostalgia,” which builds on the band’s foundations of vocal harmonies and heavy guitar influences.

Gullen said the band has focused on creating the kind of music the group itself wants to listen to since it was first formed 11 years ago.

“We’re five dudes from Canada who like to rock,” Gullen said. “We work as a unit to make the best show we can and have feel-good music you can drink beer to.”

The trio Radio Moscow will open for The Sheepdogs. This band from Story City recently released its first album, “Magical Dirt.”
