Staple pieces to wear in fall
October 5, 2015
Staple pieces are the biggest part of anyone’s wardrobe, but this is especially true for the months of fall. Basic pieces with elevated structure made of high quality fabrics can make or break a wardrobe. There are a few key pieces that everyone should have to solidify their fall fashion.
Denim is the biggest piece one would need to incorporate, simply because of the plethora of forms that it appears in throughout fashion. From dark wash skinny jeans, a bleached and distressed jean jacket, to a simple, classic chambray button down; they are all very crucial. Think of denim as a neutral in one’s wardrobe. It can be mixed and matched with patterns and bright colors, as well as chunky knit sweaters. Invest in a well-fitting dark wash denim for a simplified go to outfit.
Outerwear in the coming chilly months is a necessity for anyone trekking across campus for classes. There are a few options to choose from, based upon the weather. For a brisk day that isn’t too cold, reach for a classic trench or tough leather jacket to keep warm, but stylish. Once the weather takes a turn and the temperature drops below 32, a peacoat in a neutral color can be paired with most anything and will keep out the cold and snow.
Basic staple tops to pair with any sort of bottom are needed. A few simple tops with both long and mid-length sleeves are perfect for layering and keeping warm. Plaids are always trending in the cooler months, in oversized fashion and worn with skinny jeans or a casual legging. Stripes are always a popular option for a variety of styles of tops. Sweaters inevitably work their way in when temperatures drop and can be worn with any style of bottom.
Finally, it’s time for footwear. Autumn tends to bring a lot of leather shoes, such as boots and loafers for variety depending on the style of bottom being worn. Dark tones, generally neutrals are ideal for pairing with tons of outfits all autumn long.
Keeping these staples in mind when considering the chilly months to come will help with shopping decisions and be crucial when indecisive decisions can’t be made.
