Car slams into General Services Building

A woman and a child have been transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames after the woman apparently lost control of the minivan while headed northbound on Wallace Road before crashing into the General Services Building.

Witness Rita Patterson said it looked like the vehicle may have malfunctioned or the woman was having a health episode. She said the driver did manage to swerve to avoid people at the bus stop.

“She hit it full force,” Patterson said.

Police, firefighters and first-responders are unable to confirm the cause of the accident at this time, but did confirm a woman and a child were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
