Recipe: Simple stir-fry

Stir-fry is generally a simple, fun and delicious meal to prepare. The biggest negative: taking the time to cut up and prep the ingredients prior to cooking.

Over my years I’ve developed a love for food, and kind of a love for cooking. I like trying new recipes for food I crave, and I really like it when the recipes are pretty simple to follow.

Asian-ish food has always been a winner in my book, so here’s my recipe for a simple, not-too-demanding stir-fry:

Ingredients:

– bell peppers (red, green, yellow and/or orange)

– water chestnuts

– baby carrots

– broccoli

– peas (snap or snow peas)

– chicken

– teriyaki (or stir-fry) sauce (sauce packet or bottle)

– instant white rice

Preparation:

1. Cut up your veggies in bite-size pieces and give them a rinse. Cut up the chicken into strips.

2. Sautee the chicken in oil and whatever seasonings you want to add. After the chicken is more or less cooked through, add the veggies to the chicken. It might be best to add a little water to the mixture and put a lid on the skillet so the vegetables sort of steam through.

3. When the vegetables are pretty well cooked, add your choice of sauce, coating all the ingredients. Let everything simmer in the sauce for a couple minutes on medium-low heat.

4. Prepare whatever amount of instant white rice you want either in the microwave or on the stovetop.

5. Remove the stir-fry from the heat and dish up your plate with plenty of rice.

This stir-fry is simple, delicious and reasonably affordable. Keep in mind that you don’t need to follow a strict recipe for this, so that’s why the ingredients don’t include exact measurements. It’s all about what proportions of each ingredient you want and how much you want to prepare. Good luck, and happy cooking!
