July 2, 2015
Construction on Lincoln Way between University Boulevard and Elm Avenue will begin Monday, July 6. Work will include underground utility repairs and roadway resurfacing.
According to a city of Ames press release, Phase I of the project will include closure of the north side of Lincoln Way, and periods of closures of the intersections on the north side of the construction zone. Residents are asked to exit the neighborhood via Elm Avenue. Through traffic will be maintained in the south lanes with one lane for each direction. Phase I is anticipated to last four to five weeks.
After Phase I is complete, the south side of Lincoln Way will be closed and through traffic will be moved to the north side. The southern lanes and intersections will have periods of closures for an estimated four to five weeks.
For safety reasons, city officials ask residents to keep pets and children away from the construction zone.
