Wood and Wire will perform at 8 p.m July 21 on the Bluestem Stage at Zeke’s. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and they can be purchased through Eventbrite

The Austin-based band has performed in many notable festivals such as Old Settlers Music Festival, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Austin City Limits Music Festival, International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass and Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

Tony Kamel, lead vocalist and guitarist for the band, described their musical style as a “modern take on traditional bluegrass.”

Along with Kamel, the band consists of Dom Fisher on double bass, Trevor Smith on the banjo and Billy Bright on the mandolin.

This past February, the band released its second album “The Coast.” Kamel said that the album came from personal experiences like growing up on the Texas Gulf Coast.

The band has enjoyed playing in its hometown of Austin, Texas, and places such as Boston, New York, Washington D.C., Tennessee and Colorado, Kamel said.

Viewers of their performance will see an energetic group with good picking who like to jam, Kamel said. He said his band members are the best banjo and mandolin players, and he is extremely lucky to play with them.

While Kamel is from Houston, Texas, and Bright is from El Paso, Texas, the other members hail from across the country with Smith being from Tucson, Ariz., and Fisher being from Rochester, N.Y.
