Three summer smoothies to cool you off

Smoothies are a great way to beat the summer heat.

Smoothies are a great way to cool off on a hot summer day, and are healthier than ice cream.

Endless combinations of fruits, vegetables, yogurts and more can be blended together to create a tasty smoothie.

Try one of these recipes, or experiment with your own favorite fruits.

Fruit can be frozen or fresh for these smoothies.

Cherry and Pineapple Smoothie

1 cup cherries (seedless)

1 cup pineapple

1 cup orange juice

½ cup yogurt of your choice

½ of a banana

1. Blend all the ingredients together and you are done!

Immunity Booster Smoothie

1 cup cherries (seedless)

1 cup grape juice

1 cup blueberries

½ cup strawberries

2 tbsp. yogurt

1. Blend and you are done!

Layered Fruit Gazpacho

1¼ cup frozen raspberries, thawed

2 tbsp. honey

1½ cup lemon-lime sparkling water

5 kiwis, peeled

1 tsp. lime juice

1 cup cantaloupe, chopped

4 kiwi slices for garnish (optional)

1. Combine raspberries and honey in blender or food processor and blend until pureed. Strain raspberry puree in sieve if seeds are undesired. Mix in sparkling water. Set aside.

2. Blend kiwi and lime juice until pureed. Set aside.

3. Blend cantaloupe until pureed. Set aside.

4. Gently spoon equal amounts of kiwi puree into four glasses. Repeat with the cantaloupe puree and then the raspberry puree.

5. Garnish with kiwis if desired.

6. Enjoy your delicious and summery smoothie!
